Critical Security Patch For Mura CMS

Default No Comments »

The Mura team have issued a recent warning of a critical security flaw that has been discovered for all versions of Mura CMS older than version 5.2.2809.  This security vulnerability can expose private information to unauthenticated users, and they strongly advise all Mura CMS users to update to the latest Mura CMS release as soon as possible.

As per my previous post, there is now only 5 days left until the inactive hosting account cleanup begins.

If you have not already done so, then you need to login to to HELM before 31st August to keep your account active and stop it from being deleted.

Problem with Microsoft Access databases

ColdFusion , Default No Comments »

There is currently a problem with the ODBC service on cfdeveloper-cf2 which is stopping Microsoft Access DSN's from working from Coldfusion.

If your site is on this server and you are using Microsoft Access then you are most likley getting the following error.

[Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver]TCP/IP error, connection refused.

I am currently investigating the issue and will have it resolved as soon as posisble. In the mean time you may want to take this opportunity to migrate away from Microsoft Access which is not really suitable for production websites as it is a desktop database.
Cfmldeveloper also supports MySQL 5, which is a popular free RDBMS, and a better solution than MS Access, here is a handy tool that will help you with the migration.

For more information on migrating from Access to MySQL google is your friend.

No Open BlueDragon support

BlueDragon , Default 1 Comment »

After discussions with Matt Woodward we have determined that Open BlueDragon is simply not suited for a shared hosting environment as it lacks any kind of sandboxing security which is required for such an environment and which ColdFusion and Railo both have. Matt also tells me that currently there are no plans to add any such functionality, so this means that OBD will not be supported on the cfmldeveloper free hosting platform anytime in the near future. For those that do wish to try Open BlueDragon a cheap Virtual Private Server is the answer, which is clealry the market it is aimed at.
I believe there are ready to go amazon S3 Linux templates available that have been created by the ODB community which is a quick and easy way to try it out if you know Linux. If you are a windows type of guy then we have windows hyper-v powered virtual servers available from £25 over at BlueThunder.
