About cfmldeveloper
CFMLDeveloper.com is a community and resource for CFML developers or anyone interested in learning or Evaluating ColdFusion, offering FREE developer hosting as well as social networking tools and resources.
While ColdFusion (CFML) is a powerful language that is easy to learn the basics and work with and produces results fast, like any other language it still requires you to install, configure and run a number of services to provide an effective development environment. At minimum this includes the ColdFusion Server, a web server, an SMTP server (for sending emails via your web pages), a RDBMS such as MySQL or MSSQL. This requires a certain amount of technical knowledge, time and a powerful enough machine with enough memory to run all these services and to be fair JAVA can be a royal pain when it doesn't work properly.
Certainly a lot of hassle when all you want to do is start writing some CFML code right? CFMLDeveloper takes away all this hassle and provides with a ready to go development and testing environment

History
The original community site was CFDeveloper.co.uk which was
founded by Russ Michaels in
1999 and was the first ever site to offer FREE ColdFusion hosting, it has since been emulated by others, cfmldeveloper still remains the only non profitable options that is truely community driven, any money made from cfmldeveloper goes back into cfmldeveloper.
CFMLDeveloper is hosted and supported by BlueThunder Internet (formerly CFMX Hosting) which
has provided the hosting for cfdeveloper since day 1, so you of course find them plugged around the site as will be any other sponsors, which is only fair.
Things have changed a lot over the years, one of which is the emergence of other CFML engines such as Railo and Open Bluedragon, so in 2010 Russ decided to rename the site to CFMLdeveloper.com to to signify the support of CFML as a language and the multiple engines that run it.
In the last 10 years CFDeveloper has helped thousands of
developers, companies, colleges, universities and even government
departments to learn ColdFusion and develop their ColdFusion
applications.
This has been aided by Macromedia/Adobe themselves who have
graciously helped support CFdeveloper by providing a FREE CF enterprise
license since ColdFusion 6. Sadly in 2010 Adobe decided to withdraw this support and will no longer be providing CF licenses. We do however now have full backing and support from Railo technologies.
